LAWRENCE TAYLOR CHAINS

The world is falling at the feet of London-based singer-songwriter Lawrence Taylor just now. Zane Lowe loves him (so does Tom Ford), and his latest single, 'Bang Bang', has racked up a mind-melting three million spins on Spotify in no time at all. There's more to come from the promising 22 year-old, he's just aired another unrestrained cut, 'Chains', from the EP he'll release later in the year. Weaving candid lyrics around initially delicate, then jaggedly boisterous guitars and swaggering percussion, Taylor walks a tightrope between George Ezra's fairly clean cut folk-pop and something a lot more moody, drawn from Ben Howard's latest delightfully sullen LP. Taylor could well provide a welcome shot in the arm for a genre which has struggled for a posterboy with attitude in recent times. - DC
